Gwen Stefani is collaborating with ShoeDazzle on an accessories line.
The 44-year-old singer has always been heavily involved with fashion and has her own clothing range, L.A.M.B.
Now it’s been confirmed she’s creating a collection named gx for the footwear e-tailer, with the focus on accessibility.
“I just wanted to make something that looked really good and high quality, but that you could afford. That was a challenge,” Gwen explained to WWD.
The range will be priced between $69.95 and $110.95 and will include seven handbags and 24 types of footwear.
Pumps, wedges and heeled sandals are all set to feature, in a range of prints that include pop, tribal, street and punk.
“Whenever I design, I’m mixing different cultural influences and, always with the first collection of something new, I want to reflect on everything I’ve done in a way,” she said.
“This kind of sums up all of my influences. The key colours are black, white and red, so it is pretty simple, but it has a lot of details.”
Gwen remains best known for her work as a solo artist and with band No Doubt.
She didn’t wear a handbag until she was in her 30s as she was a “tomboy” and that designing still presents its challenges.
“To see a sketch and then to try to visualise what it is going to end up being and how it is going to work on the foot, it is not an easy project. I just think it takes time to learn, and now I have gotten to the point where I feel like my opinion and my input is valid. I know more what I’m doing,” she reasoned. “I didn’t go to design school or anything like that. It is all about what I like and my instinct and working with great people, and trial and error.”
The line is set to launch on ShoeDazzle.com on February 26.
