Cavalli’s son has ‘stepped down’

W Magazine Dinner, Spring Summer 2014, London Fashion Week, Britain - 14 Sep 2013. Danielle Cavalli left the company.

Roberto Cavalli’s son has apparently left the company.

Daniele is one of three children the designer has with his wife Eva and had been working as creative director of menswear for the label since 2011.

Now WWD reports the 27-year-old has stepped down, with his father taking over the role from the fall collection.

It’s a time of change for the brand, which last week announced that CEO Gianluca Brozzetti and Chief Operating Officer Carlo Di Biagio were both leaving.

Roberto Cavalli could also be up for sale, with rumours rife it’s in talks with private equity group Permira for a majority stake in the company.

However, this hasn’t been confirmed and any discussions are said to be at an early stage.

Roberto, 73, has allowed fans an insight into his life with autobiography Just Me!, which launched last year.

He revealed that anyone picking up the book is in for a shock.

“I screwed everybody over – I have been an amazing actor,” he previously said. “With this book, people will discover a Roberto Cavalli that you don’t expect, because the recital is over, so I take the stage and introduce the real me.

“This is not a book about fashion; it is about a boy from a modest family who achieved success thanks to his strong willpower. I wrote this book very slowly. I wrote it for me and also to leave something to my children, to inspire them.

“The book features a dedication, but actually I really want to dedicate this book to young people. I thought that young people need to understand how important it is to rely on themselves and their qualities.”
