Psoriasis is an incurable, recurring disease of the immune system that can first strike at any age, causing dry, painful skin lesions that itch, crack and bleed. Psoriasis often also causes arthritic symptoms (known as psoriatic arthritis).
Psoriasis is not contagious, although the emotional scars it often leaves can also negatively impact a patient’s loved ones.
Celebrities also suffer from Psoriasis.
CariDee English was born in 1984 in Fargo, North Dakota, USA and she is the winner of Cycle 7 of the America’s Next Top Model contest and a fashion model. During the contest English often hid her lesions under clothes before treatment with a Stelera injection every 3 months.
The 27 year-old singer is part of an awareness campaign funded by the pharmaceutical company Abbott, and run by the American Academy of Dermatology and the National Psoriasis Foundation.
