Chanel’s latest beauty look channelled the “modern cowgirl”.
Creative director Karl Lagerfeld staged the fashion house’s annual Metiers d’Art travelling fashion show in Texas earlier this week.
As well as taking inspiration from the city for the clothes, the hair and make-up looks had a touch of the US south about them.
“It’s all about the modern cowgirl. Cool, messy, low ponytails, and sexy,” hairdresser Sam McKnight told GraziaDaily.
Sam was thrilled to be asked to create looks for the iconic show, which is staged in a different place with connections to the fashion house each year.
He used Twitter to update fashion fans on what he was up to before the models hit the catwalk in their plaid and fringed pieces.
“Even Cowgirls Get The Bows #hairbows #chanel #hairbysammcknight1 ‘hairbowheaven… (sic),” he captioned an image showing two women with giant bows of fake hair added to their own long tresses.
The rest of the beauty looks were just as exciting as the hair, with one model wearing bright gold highlighter on her cheekbones. The shade faded into a greenish colour as it hit her hairline and was a perfect match to the golden wide-legged trousers and green-brown leather coat she was wearing.
The show was a hit with critics and celebrities alike, with stars such as Dakota Fanning in attendance. Also there, dressed top to toe in Spring/Summer 14 Chanel, was Kristen Stewart, who has been announced as the new face of the brand.
