Cameron Diaz has recalled the “deep boiling pimples” she suffered with as a teenager.
The stunning actress is well known for her struggles with her skin, but is also one of Hollywood’s most beautiful leading ladies.
Before moving into acting Cameron had a successful career as a model, which came as a shock after her teenage insecurities over her skin.
“I used to have horrible acne – deep, boiling pimples – the kind that hurt so badly, I didn’t want to leave my house. My friends said they didn’t notice, but I’d say, ‘It’s the only thing anyone can see.’
“No amount of concealer and foundation could take away the texture of my skin, the embarrassment I felt, or the pain of those raging pimples. I was miserable,” she told Seventeen magazine.
Despite her spots, Cameron did luck out when it came to her figure.
Her enviable body allowed a teenage Cameron to gorge on fast food without the worry of piling on the pounds.
“At the same time, I was this skinny girl who could eat anything I wanted without gaining an ounce – so I did. If you really are what you eat, I would have been a bean burrito with extra cheese, extra sauce, no onions!” she laughed.
But what the 41-year-old star didn’t realise at the time was that unhealthy food equated to bad skin and her love of grease food only added to her skin troubles.
“Sometimes on a Friday-night drive-through run, I would order a double cheeseburger with French fries and onion rings. I was the poster child for being both skinny and unhealthy – and I had the zits to prove it.
“I didn’t realise all that fried, greasy, processed artificial c**p was setting off a hormonal surge that sent my skin into crazy town!” she laughed.
