Julia Restoin Roitfeld’s first memory is of peeking through Madonna’s legs at a fashion show.
The model is the daughter of former French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld and her long-term partner Christian Restoin.
Fashion has always been part of her life and when she was little she had no idea how unusual her life was.
“One of my earliest memories is of going to a fashion show with my mum and seeing Madonna next to her on the front row. I was sitting on the floor, peering through their legs,” she told British magazine InStyle.
Julia gave birth to her daughter Romy in May 2012, although she has since split from the little girl’s father Robert Konjic. Becoming a mother has changed all aspects of her life, even impacting her dress sense.
“I recently went over to Miranda Kerr’s house for a play date with our kids. She has raised the bar pretty high for cool mom dressing,” Julia marvelled. “I tried to wear a mini-skirt at the park once, but it was impossible – as a mom, you need to bend over!”
The star hasn’t completely lost the fashion bug though. Carine also makes sure her daughter remains on-trend as much as possible.
“My mom bought me a big Chanel tote after I had my daughter, which I throw everything in – even baby bottles. In the evening, I take my gold YSL clutch everywhere and I wear stacks of jewellery by Pamela Love, who is one of my best friends,” she said.
