Fassbender’s get ready tips

Michael Fassbender attends the 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards

Michael Fassbender listened to his favourite tunes as he got ready for the Golden Globe Awards.

The Hollywood heartthrob also made sure he got a good night’s sleep before yesterday’s event, one of the highlights of the showbiz calendar.

And to ensure he looked his best when the world’s paparazzi’s eyes were on him, he’d thoroughly moisturised – even underneath his beard.

“Michael loves listening to music while getting groomed. Usually he likes to play different songs on YouTube. On one occasion we went through an ’80s phase, singing along to songs like Dire Straits’ So Far Away.

“I always advise men to get a good night’s sleep and to moisturise, especially in the evening. Men with facial hair often tend to forget to moisturise underneath their beards. This is so important because those areas become very dry, especially when the beard is trimmed shorter,” Michael’s groomer Anna Bernabe told People magazine.

Michael has grown the facial fuzz for his role as Macbeth in the film of the same name, based on the Shakespeare play.

This didn’t faze Anna, who wanted Michael to have a clean red carpet look, which included his hair being carefully coiffed. The 36-year-old actor looked smart in a black suit, crisp white shirt and a black bow tie.

“Michael and I agreed to have his hair styled back to open up his face, with a slight side part. I used my blowdryer to set the volume and enhance his natural waves,” she added.

Michael is currently starring in 12 Years a Slave, which took home the prestigious award for Best Motion Picture, Drama at the ceremony.
