Gabourey Sidibe slams weight critics

Gabourey Sidibe has hit back at Twitter jibes over her Golden Globes appearance.

The Precious star attracted criticism after gracing the red carpet at the Sunday night awards bash in a floor length, cream gown by Daniel Musto.

The Oscar-nominated actress has never shied away from her plus-size frame and regularly talks about the press preoccupation with her weight.

But after nasty comments about her frame were posted on Twitter following the Golden Globes, the 30-year-old actress decided to make light of the situation.

“To people making mean comments about my GG pics, I mos def cried about it on that private jet on my way to my dream job last night. #JK (sic),” she posted to her followers.

Among the caustic comments posted on the social networking sites were claims Gabourey’s dress made her look like a condom and “the chubby ghost from Casper”.

Currently starring in hit TV show American Horror Story, Gabourey has three movie projects currently in production.

She has previously talked about a decision she made to be happy in her own skin, and this is a mantra the actress still sticks too.

“When I was 21 or 22 I just decided that life wasn’t worth living if I wasn’t happy with myself so I just took all the steps that I could to figure out how to love myself and become confident,” she said at the Women In Entertainment Symposium in 2012.

“I get shaken a lot, especially being in this business. I have to keep going and living my life, so when things like that upset me I have to find things that build my confidence back up.”
