Kanye West is thought to be lobbying Anna Wintour to put Kim Kardashian on the cover of US Vogue.
The hip-hop star has been open about his efforts to get his fiancée recognised in the high-fashion world. He has managed to break into the community a little thanks to his friendship with Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci, although his shows at Paris Fashion Week were widely panned.
Kanye has previously said Kim should cover US Vogue and he’s now sparked speculation he is pushing the prestigious magazine’s editor to make it happen.
“They were in a corner booth, very intense. He was talking nonstop. She did not get a word in edgewise,” an onlooker who saw them at the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel told New York Post.
Although the pair were deep in conversation, at the moment exactly what was being discussed is unknown.
In October, Kanye gave a radio interview to Ryan Seacrest in which he argued Kim is much more relevant than US First Lady Michelle Obama, who has graced Vogue’s cover twice.
“There’s no way Kim Kardashian shouldn’t be on the cover of Vogue,” he said. “She’s like the most intriguing woman right now. She’s got Barbara Walters calling her like every day.
“No one is looking at what Obama is wearing. [And] Michelle Obama cannot Instagram a pic like what my girl Instagrammed the other day,” he added, referring to the infamous white swimsuit picture Kim posted online to show off her post-baby body last year.
Kanye has also claimed 33-year-old Kim’s fashion business shows why she should be accepted in the industry. She has various labels with her sisters Kourtney and Khloé, with many of the lines selling out as soon as they hit stores.
“This girl is one of the number one designers in the world,” he said last year.
“She’s been spending her check on clothes since she was 16 just like me and that’s the reason why the both of us are the most influential.”
