As seen in Today Tonight Roberto Cavalli, demi-god of over-the-top Italian fashion is to collaborate with Target for a new clothing line.
Karolina Kurkova, perhaps best known for her svelte Victoria’s Secret figure, is to face the ‘masstige’ line, combining prestige brands with mass-market affordability.
A marketing image on target.com.au shows the blonde model in an emerald-green giraffe-print wrap dress.
Prices will start at $49, with the most expensive item set to cost $129. Cavalli’s exclusive range retails for many times that – a blazer from his current a/w 2012 collection can be yours for US$2,405.00.
No stranger to designer collaborations, the super retailer has in the past worked with Stella McCartney and Josh Goot.
The much-hyped 2007 Stella McCartney partnership saw stores sell out of the line in just 10 minutes. Many items almost simultaneously landed on Ebay for resale at grossly inflated prices.
Liz Hurley and beau Shane Warne were last month photographed at Cavalli’s s/s 2013 show in Milan, where the duo graced the catwalk’s front row.
The cut-price take on high-end fashion will be launched in Sydney on October 31, delivering Cavalli’s signature print-heavy style – as beloved by Liz Hurley – to the masses.
The Robert Cavalli for Target collection will feature “glamorous eveningwear” as well as casual daywear, shoes and swimwear.
“When I set out to design this collection I had a wonderful party in mind with all women dressed glamorously and sensually. Of course there will be lots of prints as they are a part of my DNA”, Cavalli said in a release. “My inspiration for prints and for clothes always comes from the wonders of the nature … fantasy, colour and fun!”
