Katie Grand Turns to Clothes

The-miumiu-London Day 2. Clothes didn´t feel her confident,"

Katie Grand was nervous about designing clothes.

The British stylist, designer and editor has previously delighted fashion lovers with her collaborations with Italian brand Hogan, particularly her heart print purses and polka dot creations.

Known for her quirky and cute flare Katie has now ventured into the world of clothes design, something she admits scared her.

“It was daunting to even think about doing clothes. I’m more comfortable with accessories because I worked closely on shoes at Louis Vuitton, but clothes… I just didn’t feel confident,” Katie told Britain’s Grazia magazine.

Her first venture into clothes consists of a white structured jacket.

When asked if outfit designing is something she’d like to explore further, Katie has no hesitation.

“Yes. I think so. But it would have to be the right project and my collaborators will have to be really tolerant and patient with my endless corrections,” she laughed.

As well as designing Katie is also the editor of Love magazine, as well as styling collections for Marc Jacobs.

But when it comes to putting together her own outfits, Katie admits it all comes down to mixing up different styles.

“I’m quite a random dresser – I rarely wear a ‘look’ head to toe. I’d just slot pieces from this collection into my normal wardrobe. I also love the overnight bag, it’s really light. I stole one – great for going away,” she added.

Katie credits her model friends Joan Smalls, Edie Campbell, Georgia May Jagger and Linda Evangelista with bringing her creations to life as well as helping her mask any nerves.

“With Hogan it was always important for the girls to have a big personality, so I could be nervous behind them. I think I hid pretty well behind my friends,” she laughed.
