Sky Ferreira’s style icon is Kurt Cobain.
The 21-year-old singer-and-model is known for switching up her locks regularly and is currently sporting a dark brown colour.
She’s been blonde like the late Nirvana singer in the past but despite the change of hue, her choppy cut is still based on him she told Grazia Daily.
Sky also spoke about how difficult it is to maintain lighter locks.
“The blonde was hard to maintain but I love experimenting with colour. Everyone should try being blonde… at least once!” she smiled to the website.
The star is the current face of haircare brand Redken.
She’s always used the products and admits looking after her mane isn’t easy.
“I used to have really thick hair which I hated combing. My mom used to chase me around with a Redken bottle which I’d use to get rid of tangled strands,” she laughed.
“I have very dry hair so I like to leave my conditioner in for a long time – I often sleep with a Redken treatment in my hair. I also sleep on a silk pillow case which really helps to keep the hair smooth.”
Her favourite beauty gadget is a pair of straighteners and her solution to a bad hair day is to “just put a hat on it”.
Sky is supporting Miley Cyrus on her Bangerz Tour, which kicked off on February 14 and runs until June 13.
She understands that many young girls listen to her music, so picks campaigns for brands that will help her connect to her fans.
This includes high street chain Forever 21, which specialises in affordable on-trend fashion.
“I choose brands that make sense for me. Forever 21 is not Calvin Klein or Saint Laurent Paris,” she told Bullet magazine. “People of all ages listen to my music, and half of them are teenage girls who can’t afford designer clothes. So why not do something cool for Forever 21 instead of just blowing it off?”
