Lena Dunham took lessons on posing before last night’s Golden Globes.
The 27-year-old star is usually criticised for her sartorial choices at red carpet events, so decided to try something different in Los Angeles yesterday. She wore a canary yellow form-fitting gown by Zac Posen, but wasn’t sure if the look was right for her.
“I know I’m going to see something horrifying later, but I just was trying to copy Naomi Watts,” she told Ryan Seacrest.
“Someone told me to make an ‘s’ with my body. Zac, who made this dress. None of this is quite right on me. I don’t think it looks great I’m just saying that is what I was told to do.”
Lena’s dress was mermaid style, so clung to her waist and hips before flaring below the knees. It boasted a bodice top and was strapless, with the star accessorising with just a thin diamond necklace. Her short brunette hair had a slight wave to it and her make-up was kept simple, with the only other flash of colour coming courtesy of her red nails.
Although she was nervous about her look, it didn’t stop Lena from feasting before the ceremony.
“I actually ate a thick patty of hamburger meat before I came – like a cavewoman,” she laughed.
This was the second time Lena had been to the ceremony. She was nominated for best comedy TV actress, which eventually went to Amy Poehler for Parks & Recreation. Girls was also up for a gong, but the best TV comedy series accolade was awarded to Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
“I have to say it’s a little more relaxed. Tonight I did not bring either of my parents, so that’s both really sad and a certain burden has been lifted,” Lena said of her experience this time around.
“[If I wasn't here] I would be in my pyjamas eating junk food and obsessively refreshing my Twitter. Instead I’ve been starving for days and haven’t looked at my Twitter.”
Lena’s dress showed off her vast collection of tattoos, leading many to slam her body art on the social networking site.
“#lenadunham in a bright yellow gown- but I still cannot help but get distracted by her ink. It looks like a child took a gel pen to her skin,” one user wrote.
