Queen Latifah Proud of Curves

BET Black Girls Rock event, New Jersey, America - 26 Oct 2013. Queen Latifah known for her amazing curves.

Queen Latifah has never looked “typical”.

The actress is known for her amazing curves and loves to accentuate them with pretty dresses on the red carpet.

While she might look great, the 43-year-old has always been aware that she didn’t fit in with the stick-thin Hollywood stereotype.

“I was not born a size 2. I’m not skinny, period,” she admitted to Good Housekeeping magazine.

“I’m not willing to sleep with the director or step on somebody else’s neck to get the job.

“For a lot of the things I’ve wanted to do in life, I haven’t looked typical.”

Queen Latifah has never let her size hold her back and bagged roles in hit films such as Chicago and Bringing Down the House as well as enjoying a successful hip-hop career.

She managed this by “accentuating the positive and eliminating as much negative as possible”.

“I think I got to that place by not being happy with the other side – hating your body and criticising yourself all the time,” she revealed.

“When I was around 18, I looked in the mirror and said, ‘You’re either going to love yourself or hate yourself.’ And I decided to love myself. That changed a lot of things.”

Not only has the star rocked the music and acting world, but she also created a fashion range for HSN (Home Shopping Network).

When she goes shopping, Queen Latifah allows herself to shell out on arm candy.

“I have a bag fetish,” she previously laughed. “I’ll have on sweatpants and a $3,000 purse. I don’t deny myself; bags are the one thing I’ll allow myself to splurge on.”
