It features the nation’s flag colours blue, red and white along with the iconic white stars. There are also the recognisable Olympic rings.

A factual caption accompanied each picture posted. One snap shows a pocket on the jacket with the words ‘USA Olympic Team Sochi Russia’ and ‘Polo’.

“Did you know: 6,250 lbs of wool were used in the making of the Americana patchwork quilt-inspired#TeamUSA Opening Ceremony Cardigan (sic)” a member of staff wrote.

Another photo shows the team, made up of women and men, wearing the pieces proudly and holding a giant flag.

“Show your team spirit with our limited edition#TeamUSA Opening Ceremony Cardigan. All proceeds will benefit the team. (sic)” the caption read.

The blazer can be purchased for $495 along with a cream-colored cotton turtleneck sweater at $245, white fleece athletic pants for $165 and chunky black boots strung with red laces priced at $395.

The team appeared on The Today Show yesterday to talk about the event and were wearing the full kit.
