Rihanna says her Balmain campaign is “freaking epic”.
The Bajan singer was recently confirmed as the new face of the French label’s Spring 14 advertisements.
In a behind-the-scenes video, which sees Rihanna and Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing in a studio, the singer shared her feelings on the collaboration.
“Everything we have done together has been amazing,” the 25-year-old gushed about the designer. “Now we get to shoot Balmain, which is freaking epic! Balmain has been a friend that I’ve loved for so long and now, to actually get to work with him… it’s brilliant!”
Looking to the camera with a grin, she added: “We had fun today… we had so much fun.”
Stylist Mel Ottenberg also makes a small appearance in the clip as Rihanna glides around the photoshoot, helmed by Dutch photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin.
Olivier hasn’t been able to contain his excitement at working with Rihanna when speaking about the upcoming campaign.
The fashion star previously gushed about his close friend and had nothing but praise for her talent.
“Dreams do come true. When the woman that inspires you wears your creations, your vision feels complete. Not compromising, fresh, modern, the icon of my generation, Rihanna embodies my vision of Balmain in this new campaign,” he smiled.
“In front of the camera, she makes you feel like she is the only girl in the world… A few months ago, she came to the studio and from that, I wanted to create all this collection around her. She mixes fashion with music and I think my collection is based around that.”
Balmain’s Spring/Summer 14 collection, which was debuted last year, features pieces such as baby blue quilted leather trousers with gold buttons and a white mini dress with long sleeves and a feathered skirt.
