Tom Ford paid homage to Jay Z with his Fall/Winter 14 collection.
The designer showed at London Fashion Week last night, with an impressive front row that included Bradley Cooper and his model girlfriend Suki Waterhouse.
Jay Z recorded a track named after the designer last year and is often spotted rocking Tom’s creations.
In a tongue-in-cheek move, he included sequinned jersey tops similar to those Jay Z wears onstage – albeit a less glitzy version.
A burnt-orange coloured shirt came emblazoned with Tom’s full name and the number 61 and was teamed with fishnet tights and a pair of black calf-length boots.
More classic for the designer were the plain black dresses on show, which hit knee length and were also paired with boots and tights.
Polo necks are hot news this season and also featured on Tom’s runway in black and tucked into a knee-length white skirt for a sophisticated monochrome look.
A chunky black belt around the middle added definition to the waist.
Leopard print also featured in the form of a matching skirt and sweater, teamed with tights and pale blue boots.
There was also a darker, fur take on leopard print in the form of a zip-up bomber and skirt.
A sexy red leather outfit included a top with tie-detail and a skirt, with matching boots.
“It’s a different kind of sexy,” Tom explained to Associated Press. “The clothes are tight on the hip. You got to grab the body somewhere, and for me it’s all about the hip.”
Also showing yesterday was Giles Deacon with his Giles range.
It was a sporadically colourful offering, with orange appearing alongside more sombre outfits in black, white and grey.
The feel was young, with models sporting dyed hair and defiant expressions and leather and bold prints turned up on more than one occasion.
There were also some dramatic gothic gowns, with one model appearing in a ripped black dress that was adorned with a bug print that sneaked its way up to her neck.
Current fashion favourite Kendall Jenner also walked in the Giles show, with the 18-year-old star glaring moodily at the crowd as she hit the runway.
Her dress was black and white with an asymmetrical finish and was teamed with thick black tights and chunky flat shoes.
Kendall’s messy hair and smudged eyeliner finished off the grungy look.
London Fashion Week continues today with Anya Hindmarch and Simone Rocha showing their Fall/Winter 14 lines, among others.
