How to Tone up

Botox Injection to Tone up.

Want to tone up? Banish stretch marks and saggy skin? Top aesthetician Dr Vicki Smith says a collagen-boosting skin tightening treatment could hold the answer.

Loved by celebrities, Thermage is a non-invasive procedure that stimulates the skin’s natural renewal of collagen – leaving previously wrinkled and saggy skin smooth and supple.

Perfect for wobbly tummies and dimply thighs, it’s being hailed as one of the best non-surgical body-boosters.

“As we age, our skin becomes looser and less elastic,” explains Dr Smith.

“With some areas, such as the face, fillers can help to restore volume and lift.

“Other areas, such as loose skin over the abdomen due to stretching at pregnancy can be improved by skin tightening.”

During the Body Thermage procedure, the treatment tip simultaneously heats and cools the skin.

It then emits radio frequency energy to heat the collagen in the deeper skin layers while simultaneously protecting the top layers of the skin with a cooling spray.

This heating action causes the collagen in the deeper layers of the skin to tighten immediately – and this then stimulates new collagen production, which further enhances the result.

“Over time, usually three to six months later, new collagen will form, which will enhance and cause further tightening of the skin,” Dr Smith explains.

“Ultimately, Thermage is not an invasive treatment and won’t achieve the same dramatic results that surgery will do.

“However it does tighten the skin and gives a more natural result. Treated skin can look smoother and more youthful,” she adds.
