Victoria Beckham loves mixing “androgyny and femininity” when designing.
The British star unveiled her Fall/Winter 14 collection as part of New York Fashion Week over the weekend.
Speaking to graziadaily.co.uk about the inspiration behind her latest offering, Victoria shared her favourite looks at the moment.
“The ruffle over the trousers was completely new this season and I love the colour print combined with the pleated skirt. It’s exactly what I want to wear right now,” she gushed.
“I like that mix of androgyny and femininity, like the long feminine skirts with the more masculine trouser underneath. I think that looks really, really cool. Also tunic dressing is something that I really relate to and I think the girls look really feminine and sexy.”
The brunette star wanted to go in a new direction with her latest line. Pieces in the range include a black silk midi skirt and a white dress with three-quarter length sleeves and a fur lining around the bottom.
“We really focused on eveningwear and there is a lot more design detail this season. I love the gold chain detailing and the wool makes the dresses look so luxurious and powerful in a very feminine way,” she explained.
“But then we’re turning it on its head by pairing it with a cashmere tank. It still feels modern and it still has edge, but it’s definitely elegant.”
With each new collection Victoria hopes to break the boundaries of fashion more. She feels a lot more confident now than she did when she first launched the label.
“For my first season, I put my signature dresses on the catwalk and there are a lot of them in the selling campaign,” she added.
“They’re great dresses and they do have the fashion message in them, but I think each season the more people understand me and my brand, the more I can push it a little bit. And I enjoy doing that because I’ve got lots of ideas that I want to try.”
